Everything a customer does
on Power Ring.
Design a system around your real energy needs, receive up to three itemised installer bids, compare them side by side, pay or finance, then follow your installation stage by stage. Every step is annotated with what to look for on screen.
Seven steps · about 8 minutes · 12 terms explained
The words we use
Twelve terms cover everything you will see while designing, comparing and paying. Read these first and the rest of the guide reads like a checklist.
Design engine
The Power Ring calculator that turns your appliances and location into a recommended solar system — array, inverter and battery — with an indicative price.
Energy audit
The appliance-level picture of what you actually power: each appliance, its watts and how many hours a day you use it. Everything else is built on it.
Load profile
Which loads you are designing for — essentials only, or essentials plus cooling. It changes the battery and inverter size the engine recommends.
Tariff band
Your grid supply band (A to E). Together with your region it tells the engine how many hours of grid power you realistically get.
Recommended system
The output of your design: solar array in kWp, inverter in kVA, and battery capacity in kWh with your chosen backup hours.
Indicative price range
A guide band for what a system like yours typically costs in your area. It is a range, not a quote — your actual price comes from bids.
Quote code
Your project's short reference, like PRQ-7X3K. It is how you track bids, pay, and follow the installation. Keep it handy.
Marketplace
Where your published design is offered to vetted installers in your state. Each design accepts up to three bids so comparisons stay clear.
Bid
An installer's priced offer: the equipment, the quantities, their prices, warranty and estimated install days — itemised so you can compare properly.
Premium Service offer
Power Ring's own instant guaranteed quote, built with premium-grade components. It arrives shortly after you publish and is valid for 7 days.
Platform fee
Power Ring's coordination fee, already included in the total you see on each bid. The price on screen is the price you pay.
Project tracker
The stage-by-stage record of your installation once a bid is accepted and paid for — updated by your installer with photos and notes.
Design your system
There are two ways in and they meet at the same place. On a phone the AI prompt is the front door; on a computer you get the guided form. Neither changes what you end up with.
Describe your appliances — or just your home, shop or office — and the engine designs your system.
The same design continues on your computer if you would rather finish there.
- 1Say it in plain words
Describe your home, shop or office the way you would to a friend. No sizes or calculations needed.
- 2Or tap an example
The suggestions show the level of detail that works best — appliances, or just the kind of property.
- 3Attach a photo or your bill
A photo of your appliances or panel is enough for the engine to read them for you.
- 4The engine lists what it found
Appliances, quantities and estimated running hours appear for you to confirm, then continue into the full design.
Prefer to fill a form instead? The menu on the prompt screen switches you to the guided design at any point.
- 1Seven screens, nothing hidden
Property, Location, Energy, Roof, Load, Configure, then Results. Completed screens stay clickable if you want to change an answer.
- 2Add each appliance
Loads come pre-filled with realistic watts for your sector — add the quantity and the hours you use them.
- 3Your running total
Daily energy and peak load build up as you add loads, so you can see what is driving your system size.
- 4Configure the finish
On the Configure screen you set battery backup hours, room to expand later, and whether you want General or Premium grade equipment.
- 1Property — house, business or industrial, and the type
- 2Location — your state, area and grid tariff band
- 3Energy — your appliances and how long you run them
- 4Roof — the roof type, so mounting is quoted correctly
- 5Load Profile — essentials only, or essentials plus cooling
- 6Configure — backup hours, future expansion, quality tier
- 7Results — your recommended system and indicative price
Your answers save as you go, so you can leave the design and come back to it later.
Read your design
Your results screen is the same document your installers will bid against, so it pays to look it over before publishing.
Typical installed range for this system size in your area. Installer bids are the real prices.
Indicative pricing exists to set expectations. The number you actually pay comes from the bid you accept.
- 1How the system fits together
Array, inverter and battery shown working together on your property — the picture of what you are buying.
- 2Your recommended system
Array size in kWp and panel count, inverter size in kVA, and battery capacity with the backup hours you asked for.
- 3Indicative price range
A band for what this class of system typically costs in your area — a guide, not a quote. Your real prices arrive as bids.
- 4The design context
Your tariff band, load profile, roof type and property type, so you can sanity-check the assumptions behind the numbers.
- 5Adjust Design
Change an answer and the engine recalculates immediately. Nothing is locked until you publish.
- 6Energy Audit Book
The full document behind your design: loads, sizing calculations and pricing context. You and your installers both work from it.
- 1General or Premium — the two product-quality tiers differ in the brands installers may quote, and the indicative range follows your choice.
- 2Backup hours drive cost — more hours of backup means a bigger battery. Trim hours you do not need and the design gets cheaper.
- 3Your progress is saved — step away and your answers are still there when you come back.
- 4Published designs last 7 days — so publish when you are ready to compare real prices.
Publish and get bids
Publishing turns your design into a live request. Installers in your state are notified, your quote code is created, and your own Premium Service offer follows shortly after.
When you publish your quote, you will get up to 3 competitive bids and you can download your comprehensive Energy Audit Book on the next page.
Your quote stays open for 7 days from the moment you publish.
- 1Your full name
The name your installers and our team use on the project. Required.
- 2Email address
Optional, but worth adding: your quote code, bid alerts and Premium Service offer all arrive here.
- 3Phone number
Required — it is the second way to find your quote later, alongside the code.
- 4Invite a specific installer
Already know a company? Enter their installer code (for example INS-AB12) and they will see your design too.
- 5Publish & Get Quotes
One tap takes your design live to active installers in your state and creates your quote code.
- 6Up to three bids
The marketplace is capped at three bids per design, so comparison stays sharp instead of endless.
- 1Your quote code is created — something like PRQ-7X3K. It identifies your design in every conversation, payment and report.
- 2Installers in your state are notified — active installers covering your location receive your design.
- 3Your code is emailed to you — along with a link that opens your quotes page directly.
- 4A Premium Service offer arrives — Power Ring's own guaranteed quote, valid for 7 days, so you always have a benchmark to compare bids against.
Track your quotes
One page holds everything: your design, the bids against it, the Premium Service offer and your payment state. Bookmark it — the link with your code is in your email too.
Every bid comes with a downloadable PDF, so you can read it properly or share it with family.
- 1Quote code, or your phone number
Two ways in. The code is fastest; your phone number finds every quote you have published.
- 2Search
Type it and tap Find — no password or account to remember.
- 3Your quote, with its live status
Awaiting bids, Bids received, Active or Expired. You always know where you stand.
- 4Bid slots filling up
Each dot is one of the three bids your design accepts. Two lit dots means one slot left.
- 5The Premium Service card
Power Ring's own guaranteed offer sits at the top of your quote, so you can compare every installer bid against it.
- Awaiting bids — published and live; installers are reviewing your design.
- Bids received — at least one installer has priced the job — open it to compare.
- Active — you accepted a bid and the project is under way.
- Expired — the 7-day window passed with no accepted bid; design again to restart.
- 1Open your quotes page — from the email we sent, or the link in the site footer at any time.
- 2Enter your code or phone — and every quote you own appears with its bids.
Compare and accept a bid
Bids are itemised rather than a single number, so comparing is about equipment, warranty and time — not just the cheapest total. The Premium Service offer gives you a reference point.
- 1Who is bidding
Company name and installer code, so you can see who you would actually be working with.
- 2The total you pay
Already includes the Power Ring platform fee, itemised underneath, so there is no surprise later.
- 3Line by line
Panels with quantity, wattage and unit price, inverter, batteries, mounting, wiring and professional fee.
- 4Warranty and install time
Years of warranty and estimated install days — the two numbers that decide how painless this is.
- 5Download the bid
Each bid opens as a PDF you can keep, print or send to family before deciding.
- 6Accept or Decline
Accept starts your payment step. Decline puts the slot back so other installers can still bid.
- 1Start with the specification — same array, inverter and battery sizes across all bids — you are comparing brands and workmanship, not different systems.
- 2Then warranty and install days — a longer warranty or a shorter build often outvalues a small difference in price.
- 3Use the Premium offer as your anchor — Power Ring's guaranteed price shows what premium-grade equipment costs, so you can judge every bid against it.
- 4Decide within the 7-day window — your design and its bids stay open for a week. Decline the ones you do not want and keep comparing.
Up to three installer bids plus the Premium Service offer can sit on a single design.
Pay or finance
Accepting a bid opens your payment step. Choose to pay in full, or pick a financing package with a deposit and monthly repayments — either way your money goes to Power Ring, not to the installer.
Your invoice and your finance plan both quote the same system total from the bid you accepted.
- 1Two ways to pay
Self-finance and pay Power Ring directly, or finance it through a partner with a deposit and monthly repayments.
- 2Payment goes to Power Ring
Never to the installer's account. We hold the project together and coordinate delivery.
- 3Use your quote code as the reference
Your invoice shows the account and the exact reference, so your payment is matched to your project instantly.
- 4Send your proof of payment
Email it to hello@powerring.co and your installation is scheduled to begin.
- 5Financing, worked out before you apply
Deposit, tenure options, monthly repayment and total repayment are all shown up front.
- 6Your application goes to the partner
Fill in the fields they ask for, then track the outcome — under review, partner approved, approved, or declined.
Paying in full
- 1Tap Self-finance, then Confirm & Get Invoice.
- 2Pay to the account on your invoice, using your quote code as the reference.
- 3Email your proof of payment to hello@powerring.co.
- 4Your project turns active and installation is scheduled.
Paying over time
- 1Tap Finance me and pick a package: deposit, tenure and monthly repayment are all shown.
- 2Complete the short application the finance partner asks for.
- 3Confirm & Apply — Power Ring submits and coordinates it for you.
- 4Pay the deposit when approved, then continue with your monthly plan.
Follow your installation
Once your payment is confirmed, your project appears in the tracker, where your installer records every stage with notes and photos. You can check in from anywhere.
- 1Find your project
Same two keys as your quotes: quote code or the phone number you registered with.
- 2Who is installing
The company that won your bid, so you always know who is on site.
- 3Progress at a glance
Completed stages out of the full list — useful for a quick check when you are not home.
- 4The Project Report
A downloadable document covering your system, the agreed scope and the install record.
- 5The timeline chart
Stage dates on a single chart, so you can see the pace of the work at any moment.
- 6Stage by stage detail
Each milestone carries its completion date, the installer's notes and site photos.
- 1Accept a bid — which locks in your installer and the agreed total.
- 2Pay your deposit or invoice — and send the proof — this is what activates the project.
- 3Then follow the build — stages tick off as the work is done, and you can download your report at the end.
A completed project keeps its report and timeline available for your records and warranties.
That is the whole journey.
Your design takes minutes.
Start with your appliances, publish when you are happy, and let installers in your area compete for the work.
